Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
Introduction to Lean Principles and Data-Driven Problem Solving
Lean Six Sigma combines the speed and waste-reduction focus of Lean with the data-driven rigor of Six Sigma to improve processes, reduce variation, and strengthen organizational performance. The Yellow Belt level is the ideal starting point for anyone new to continuous improvement or for team members who support process improvement efforts in their daily work.
This entry-level workshop provides a clear, accessible overview of Lean concepts, basic Six Sigma tools, and the DMAIC (Define–Measure–Analyze–Improve–Control) improvement framework. No previous Lean or Six Sigma training is required. Participants will learn how to identify waste, understand process variation, and contribute effectively to improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Learn
Through hands-on activities and real-world examples, participants will develop foundational skills in Lean Six Sigma thinking and gain confidence in using basic tools to improve work processes.
You will learn how to:
• Understand the purpose of Lean Six Sigma and how it strengthens quality, flow, and performance
• Recognize and eliminate the eight types of waste
• Apply the DMAIC methodology to improve processes step by step
• Use basic root-cause analysis and problem-solving tools
• Distinguish between value-added and non-value-added activities
• Interpret simple process data to identify variation and improvement opportunities
• Contribute as an effective member of a Lean Six Sigma project team
This course is ideal for operators, technicians, office staff, supervisors, and anyone seeking to build confidence in continuous improvement methods. Participants will leave with a strong foundation for supporting improvement projects and driving positive change within their organization.
