Powered industrial trucks, commonly called forklifts or lift trucks, are used in many industries, primarily to move materials. There are many types of powered industrial trucks. Each type presents different operating hazards. This half day class will discuss common hazards associated with forklifts in the workplace. In addition, this class will discuss forklift best practices, ways to protect workers from forklift related injuries, and will review the powered industrial truck standard, 29 CFR 1910.178.
This course is designed for safety and health professionals or safety committee members who oversee or participate in the maintenance or implementation of the company’s Safety and Health Program. Upon completion of the class, the attendee will receive a certificate of completion. This educational class cannot be used in lieu of the required training by law. Employers must ensure forklift operators complete the training and evaluation specified in OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.178(l).
